  Packing Tips  
  Air Conditioner - Consult your owner's manual to determine the model. Some sealed units may need to be bolted down.

Bedding/Linens - Items should be placed in linen cartons.

Beds - Galil will dismantle all beds for you and set them up at your new location.

Books - Pack books in small, sturdy cartons and tape closed. Books should not be left in drawers or bookshelves.

Bric-a-Brac - Items should be wrapped individually and placed in a sturdy carton, with the heaviest items at the bottom. Use unprinted newspaper to cushion the packed items.

China - Line the bottom of the box with 3" of unprinted newspaper. Wrap each piece individually in unprinted newspaper. Stack heaviest items on the bottom and stack plates vertically. Use 2" of unprinted newsprint between layers. Pack cups and saucers on top.

Clothing - For a nominal fee, Galil will transfer your clothing from your closets to wardrobes provided by us. Approximately 25 hangers will fit in a wardrobe. This will ensure that your clothing remains wrinkle-free. Smaller clothing items should be packed in suitcases or cartons.

Clocks/Grandfather Clocks - Small clocks may be wrapped and placed in boxes. Chimes, weights and pendulums on larger clocks should be removed or secured to the base.

Curtains/Draperies - Remove the rods from curtains. Draperies may be placed on hangers in the wardrobe cartons, or they may be folded and placed in cartons. Food - Perishable food should be discarded. Canned goods should be placed in sturdy cartons weighing not more than 50 pounds.

Glass Tops to Furniture - To avoid breakage, these items must be crated for shipping.

Glassware - All glassware should be individually wrapped and placed in cartons right side up.

Jewelry - Any valuables should be kept in your immediate possession.

Kitchen Utensils/Appliances - These items should be wrapped and placed in cartons, with the heavier items on the bottom.

Lamps/Lampshades - Small lamps may be wrapped and

placed in cartons. Be sure to remove ornamental tops. Lampshades should be wrapped in unprinted newspaper and placed in cartons.

Mattresses - For a fee, Galil will pack mattresses in mattress cartons.

Mirrors - Mirrors should be crated to avoid breakage.

Pictures - Pictures must be wrapped and crated for moving.

Plants - Galil cannot move live plants.

Stereo Equipment - Expensive equipment should be prepared for moving by a serviceman. Records, tapes and CDs should be secured in a small carton.

Refrigerators & Freezers - One to two days before moving, refrigerator and freezer should be completely emptied, defrosted and dried out. All removable parts should be wrapped and placed in cartons. Have your refrigerator serviced.

Rugs - Galil will roll and remove your rugs. All tacks should be removed from carpeting.

Stoves - Must be disconnected before movers arrive. Any removable parts should be packed separately. Gas lines should be shut off and capped.

Television Sets - TVs should be unplugged 24 hours before moving. Antennas should be removed and disassembled.
